Solar array panel framework

The most promising design of CS solar array panel base is a three-layer framework using carbon plastic coatings and honeycomb filler made of aluminum foil produced by method of coatings forming in shaping bag with subsequent adhesive assembling of the panel. The framework serves for mounting the photoelectric segment of a solar array.

Spherical Bottle Manufacturing

Analogous three-layer panels are used in the structure of SC heat shields intended to maintain thermal conditions of a satellite and for its protection from space environment effects.

High-Pressure Vessels

The high-pressure cylinders and propellant tanks is a two-layer structure. The internal metal case ensures leak-tightness and serves as a technological accessory for winding the external layer. The strengthening shell is made by method of wet winding of carbon plastic based on carbon fiber and binder of epoxy type. The maximal pressure for which the high-pressure cylinders are designed is 690 atm.

Stable-Sized Tubular Element of Square Cross-Section

As materials for manufacturing stable-sized elements, carbon plastic is used.

The required level of stable size of a tubular element is achieved through selection of reinforcing scheme. Depending of reinforcing scheme, it can be within the limits from -5.0·10-7 to +4.3·10-7 1/°С.

Winding

Yuzhnoye SDO equipment allows manufacturing the articles both of carbon fibers and of prepreg, by method of winding. The maximal diameter of articles is 1 m, the maximal length is 6 m.

The equipment is designed to manufacture the following articles:

- cocoon-type shells;

- strengthening shells of high-pressure spherical bottles;

- stable-sized tubular structures.

For the manufacturing,  the MAW 20 FB5/1 5-coordinate winding machine made by MICROSAM is used.
